By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, October 6, 2012

{{{*}}}The Justin Civic Foundation will sponsor the “Justin Hunger Run” on Saturday, Oct. 13, to benefit both the Foundation and the Community Food Bank.

A day of activities for the whole family is planned around the event, including a multi-community motorcycle “poker run” for riders, along with vendors, food, prizes, giveaways and fun activities.

The run will leave Justin and travel along Farm Road 407 into Wise County, with the first top at the Valero Station in New Fairview. Riders will turn right onto Farm Road 2264 to Decatur, travel into downtown Decatur and make the second stop at Reunion on the Square.

The bikes will then head up Farm Road 51 and turn right on Farm Road 455, taking the ride through Slidell and back into Denton County. From 455, they will turn right on Farm Road 1173 and continue to Krum. The route then takes another right on Farm Road 156, which brings riders to the third stop, at Bev’s Barbecue and the Valero Station in Ponder.

The final leg of the run takes riders back to Justin on FM 156.

Activities will be centered at 100 E. 4th St., just off FM 156 east of the railroad tracks in Justin.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and gates open at 9 with the first bike going out. The last bike will go out at 10 a.m., and the Justin Lions Club will provide lunch on site beginning at noon. The last bike is due back at 2, and prize drawings will begin at that time. Gates will close at 3 p.m.

The Mule Barn will provide entertainment for riders beginning at 3 p.m.

Those who come with a canned good for the Food Bank can get into the ride for $20. Those interested can pre-register at the Mule Barn or by contacting the Foundation.

Vendors are invited to fill out an application and reserve a spot at the event.

Vendors may set up starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. Generators are allowed, but no power or water will be provided during the event.
