The Chico Community Center has proven popular with the public, and those wishing to book the facility for an event now have even more options.
The city offers various rental rates depending on the number of hours it is used. An eight-hour block costs $200 while an 8 a.m. to midnight block costs $300.
`All rate packages still include a $200 deposit.
The council also added a “wedding package” feature. For $500, people will have the room for four hours for set up the evening before, 8 a.m. to midnight on the wedding day and 8 a.m. to noon on the following day for cleanup.
“We are glad the people of Chico and Wise County are getting so much use out of it,” Clark said of the community center, which opened this past summer.
In other community center business, the council approved the purchase of 10-year warranties from Mann Refrigeration for the two new air conditioning/heating units in the facility. Total cost is $3,600.
A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, to begin the voluntary annexation process for Rebecca Cox McDonald. A small portion of McDonald’s property, located on the north end of town on Business Texas 101, falls outside of the city limits. She would like to bring the rest of the property inside the city limits.
In other business, next month’s council meeting was rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, to avoid falling on New Year’s Day.
