Church welcomes new pastor

The First United Methodist Church of Decatur will welcome a new pastor, Sunday, Oct. 21.

The Decatur church is the Rev. Brian Bosworth’s third appointment after having previously served a church in Sulphur Springs, Greenville and retiring from a career in law enforcement.

Bosworth grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School before earning a bachelor of business administration in management from Texas A&M University.

In May of 2005, he graduated from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University with a masters of divinity. In May 2012, Brian completed doctoral studies at Saint Paul School of Theology, earning a doctor of ministry in Wesleyan spirituality leadership, and congregational renewal.

He is an elder and a member in full connection of the North Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Bosworth has also served as youth director at the First United Methodist Church of Heath. He chairs the Disaster Response Committee of the East District and serves on the East District’s Nominating Committee. He is a member of the Northeast Texas Emmaus Community and the Trinity Chapter of the Order of St. Luke.

He and his wife, Melissa, have two children, Megan and Corey.

The public is invited to welcome the Bosworth family at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
