According to Wise County Sheriff’s Deputy Mason Torres, Trevor Hartfield of Denton was riding with Jeremy Shelby, 20, of Sunset when Hartfield climbed from the driver’s side back window into the bed of the pickup while the vehicle was in motion.
Hartfield was attempting to climb back into the pickup through the same window when he fell to the pavement.
Meghan Elliot, 18, of Decatur was following Shelby and witnessed the accident. Torres said they were on their way to Sunset.
Hartfield, a 2010 Alvord High School graduate, was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he remains in the ICU.
