Berry and La Rue Hawkins of Aurora will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 8, with an open house hosted by their daughter and son-in-law.

Berry and the former La Rue Callaway were married Dec. 8, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Petrolia.

They have three children, who they view as precious gifts of God: Glenn Hawkins and wife, Sonia, Berry Hawkins III and Dr. Lisa Fraga and husband, Dr. Mark Fraga; and five grandchildren who are the icing on their “cake of life”: Cheyenne and Cody Hawkins and Emma, John Mark and Lily Fraga.

Earlier this fall, the couple began their anniversary celebration with a luxury cruise to Alaska, where they spent a week touring the state’s scenic gold country.

They feel they have been uniquely blessed and privileged to have shared life’s adventure together.
