THREE NISD SENIORS NAMED NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS – Northwest High School seniors Damon King, Kassidy Knight and Matthew Walker are among the approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

King, Knight and Walker will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to achieve finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the title of Merit Scholar. Winners will be announced this spring.

NHS FOOTBALL PLAYER NAMED SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Northwest High School football player Parker Kneis was named the Scholar Athlete of the Week by Inside High School Sports. Kneis is a junior at Northwest High School.

NORTHWEST ISD 2012 BOND REFERENDUM – Election day polling locations and a schedule of presentations for the 2012 bond election are available at www.nisdtx.org/bond2012.

The site includes bond information at-a-glance, an overview of projects, a review of past bond elections and a gallery of photos and videos. Check out the latest Got Growth? video on Northwest Educational Television for details on completed projects and upcoming construction, pending the outcome of the 2012 bond election.

What will this bond election provide for your child’s campus? Specific details on the impact for your school and feeder zone can be found on the website.

Election day is Nov. 6. Early voting is Oct. 22 through Nov. 2. In order to vote, you should register 30 days prior to the election. To confirm your voter registration or learn more about upcoming elections, go to votetexas.gov.

Voter registration cards for Denton and Tarrant counties are available at most NISD schools.
