Funeral for Winfred Wayne “Wimp” Betty, 80, of Decatur was June 25 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with Jim Gogniat officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Betty died Thursday, June 21, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Born Feb. 13, 1932, in Waurika, Okla., to Otis Earl and Lena (Kaiser) Betty, he married Joyce Nell Overton March 24, 1962, in Frederick, Okla. He retired from Bell Helicopter as machinist after 35 years. Betty moved to Decatur after retiring in 1998.
He hunted, fished and was a Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He was a member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst.
Betty was preceded in death by son Cary Betty.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Katrina Modisett and husband, Damon, of Keller and Lisa Grantham and husband, Roger, of Whitney; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Lois Gillespie and husband, Charles, of Beaumont; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David A. Drummond, Dustin Modisett, Michael Modisett, Kevin Overton, Andrew Gogniat and Kyle Overton.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Beavers, Jim Schindler, Dennis Sullens, Lindsey McNeely, Tabetha Collins, Katie Grantham, Aimme Grantham, Valerie Faris, Dave Beavers and Steven Overton.
