Myrl Lorene Smith | 1918-2012

Funeral for Myrl Lorene Smith, 93, of Alvord was Aug. 1 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. Gary Demmitt officiating. Burial was at Sycamore Cemetery.

Smith died Saturday, July 28, in Decatur.

Born Oct. 23, 1918, in Pilot Point to Clarence and Lillie Mae (Moore) Thomas, she was a homemaker. She married Loyd Archie Smith and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Smith was preceded in death by her husband; son Bill Smith; great-grandsons Cody and Tristan Smith; brothers Clarence Thomas Jr. and William Thomas; and sister Pearl Thomas.

She is survived by grandson Britain Loyd Smith and wife, Sherry, of Alvord; great-granddaughters Brandi Lockwood and husband, Barrett, of Weatherford and Michaela Cross of Alvord; great-grandson Christian Cross of Alvord; and great-great-granddaughter Kinley Lockwood of Weatherford.

Pallbearers were Chris Warr, Matthew E. Dunn, Matthew L. Dunn and Kyle Dunn.

    Myrl was my neighbor for 17 years. She brought me some potholders she had made when we moved to Alvord. I still have them! God Speed!
