Melvin Larry Conklin

Private burial for Melvin Larry Conklin, 65, of Decatur is at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Conklin died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Decatur.

Born Nov. 15, 1946, in El Paso to William L. and Verda Mae (Green) Conklin, Sr., he married Diane Greaton Oct.18, 1986, in Lytle. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965 and retired after 20 years of service. Conklin worked for FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency), retiring in 2007.

He is survived by his wife; son Robert Conklin and wife, Alison, of Thomasville, Ga.; daughters Kimberly Bursek and husband, Gary, of Washington and Stephanie Keel and husband, Brian, of Ohio; eight grandchildren; brother Bill Conklin and wife, Linda, of Orlando, Fla.; an aunt, a niece and nephew.
