Mateo Nunez

Mass of Christian burial for Mateo Nunez, 82, of Decatur was Aug. 7 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with Father Sojan George officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Nunez died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Decatur.

Born June 11, 1930, in Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Felipe and Santos Nunez, he married Blanca Gonzalez May 25, 1958, in Monterrey, Mexico. He was a mechanic for 44 years at Flusche Auto Repair in Decatur.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Nunez is survived by his wife of 54 years; daughters Leticia Nunez Piazza and husband, Leonard, of Southlake, Grace Nivens and husband, Ben, of Grapevine and Elsa Nunez of Grapevine; grandchildren Brock Matthew Nivens and Jacqueline Piazza; sisters Olaya Leal, Dolores Ayers and Josefina Diez de Sollano; brother Felipe Nunez; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Trevor Munnerlyn, John Price, Humberto A. Leal, Antonio Guia, Phillip Flusche, John Huber and Jose Nieto.
