Mara K. Ooten

Service for Mara K. Ooten, 28, of Bridgeport is 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Sam Starr officiating.

Mara died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Irving.

Born Nov. 19, 1983, in Decatur to Richard Ooten and Paula (Shannon) Copeland, she was to begin her teaching career this fall at Midland Lee High School in Midland, teaching ninth grade. Ooten listened to music, baked, played disc golf, had a sarcastic sense of humor and had Fun Day Sundays.

She earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and minor in science.

Ooten is survived by her father of Paradise; mother and stepfather, Jon, of Bridgeport; fianc Nick Bolton of Wichita Falls; brother Ryan Ooten and wife, Erin, of Decatur; stepsisters Melissa Hill and husband, Stephen, of Bridgeport and Natalie Copeland of Irving; stepbrother Nick Copeland of Taiwan; grandmother Pauline Shannon of Bridgeport; nieces Abbey and Kaydence; and nephews Kevin and Ian.

Pallbearers are Ryan Ooten, Nick Bolton, Rob Shannon, Chad Morrow, Nick Copeland and Shiloh Shannon.
