Lara Geneva Cearley, 95, of Denton, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012. She was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Leo to Robert Dempsey and Clara Landford Dempsey. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Slidell.

Visitation is 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the First Baptist Church in Slidell. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Slidell Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Cates officiating.

Geneva is survived by her son, Delwin Higgs; sister Bonnie White; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Frank Higgs and Cleo Cearley; and her parents.
