Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Justin United Methodist Church with burial at Justin Cemetery. The Rev. Buster Noah and the Rev. Mel West will officiate.

Beck was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Fort Worth and served as mayor of Justin from 1997 to 2001 after 12 years on the city council. He was Justin’s first Economic Development director and was a member of the Justin Business Association and the Justin Civic Foundation. In June of this year, a pavilion at a Justin city park was named in honor of Beck and his wife, Mary.
Beck moved to Justin in 1971 and purchased the Justin Lumber Co. He was a past president of the Fort Worth Lumbermen’s Association.
He was a graduate of Northside High School in Fort Worth and Texas Wesleyan University. He was a longtime member of the Justin United Methodist Church where he held many offices, including chairman of the Administrative Board, chairman of Trustees and chairman of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and the Finance Committee. He was a Sunday school teacher at the church.
Beck served as a director of the Denton County Central Appraisal District from 1984 to 1993. He was a director of the Northwest ISD Community Partnership and was the Northwest High School football stadium announcer for a decade. An avid golfer, Beck enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He coached little league baseball for many years.
He was a member of the Justin Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Beck; sons Robert Samuel Beck and his wife, Becky, of Krum and Jon Bradley Beck of Justin; and grandchildren Luke Denton of Nashville, Tenn., and Emily and Allison Beck of Krum.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Beck Denton of Nashville, Tenn., and his parents, Sam and Owyeda Beck of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers will be Ken Kirkham, Jeff Eaton, Barry Eaton, Brian Eaton, Greg Shannon, Curt Shannon, Erle Nye and Roy Eaton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the Justin United Methodist Church.
