John Richard Bohling Jr.

Funeral for John Richard Bohling Jr., 66, of Runaway Bay is 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with the Rev. Bobby Cox officiating. Graveside service is 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bohling died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in Bridgeport.

Born March 13, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John Bohling Sr. and Lovina (Clouse) Bohling, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and was a navigator and bombardier of B52s. Bohling survived 198 combat missions and received the Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross before he was discharged in 1974.

He married Frances Benosky Sept. 2, 1967, in Amsterdam, N.Y. He retired from Acme Brick and Delta Airlines.

Bohling is survived by his wife; daughter Desir Beavers and husband, Mark, of Denton; son John Richard Bohling III and wife, Betty, of Highland Village; grandchildren Brady, Alexis, Jordan, John-Geoffrey, Makenzi, Jet and Lyndsay; sister Doris Picco and husband, Frank, of North Carolina; nieces and nephews.
