Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Gatesville to Lillian (Wittie) and E.L. Jackson. He grew up in Hico and knew Brushy Bill Roberts (a.k.a. Billy the Kid) before his death in 1950. His family moved to Pecos, where he met and married Mary Frances Hale Oct. 26, 1959. He and Frances moved to Wise County in 1965 where they raised their four children, and he worked in the oilfield, eventually starting and running his own oilfield business.
He is survived by his wife; their children, Randell, Ricky, Rhonda and Reda; son-in-laws Tony Henry and Jeff Horner; sisters Earnestine Cauble and husband, James, of Katy, Pauline Faubion and husband, Rex, of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary Peacock and husband, Loyd, of Lovington, N.M.; brother-in-law Wayne Dorsett of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Dorsett and brother Alton Jackson.
