Herbert Vernon Forman

Herbert Vernon Forman Jr., 85, died surrounded by his family on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church of Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Alvord Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Chris Forman, Steve Forman, Jacob Yale, Eddie Goodwin, Daniel Tucker and Joe Dickerson.

Forman was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Petrolia to Herbert Vernon and Gladys (Herd) Forman Sr. He married Claudia Faye Buchanan of Cleburne Jan. 25, 1951, in Sherman.

He retired from Maddox Metal Works of Dallas as manager of inspections in 1993. He and his wife, Claudia, moved to Alvord in April of 1993, where they enjoyed mostly each other’s company but also gardening, camping trips and spoiling their grandchildren.

Forman served in the U. S. Navy for two years and served as the Grandmaster at the Masonic Lodge in Alvord for one year. He had a huge circle of friends and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia Faye Forman of Alvord; sons Chris Forman of Alvord and Steve Forman and wife, Julie, of Weatherford; daughter, Leisa Newlin and husband, Jimmy, of Houston and grandsons Daniel Scott Tucker of Tulsa, David Randall Tucker of Houston and Jacob Paul Yale of Weatherford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Doris Pitts.
