Hal Glendell Buie

Hal Glendell Buie, 80, a retired welder, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in Fort Worth.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the First Baptist Church of Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Alvord Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Mr. Buie was born July 3, 1932, in Wilmington, N.C. He married Shirley Jeanette Anderson in 1952 in El Paso, and they had been married 50 years at the time of her death on March 27, 2003.

Mr. Buie retired from Texaco Refining in El Paso as a welder after 28 years of service. He moved to Alvord in 1992 where he worked as a self-employed welder for mechanical contracts.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Alvord since 1992. He was chairman of the deacons.

He is survived by sons Joel Buie and wife, Jackie, of Crowley, Donald Buie and wife, Shanna, of Idaho, Hal W. Buie and wife, Muriel, of Everman, and John Buie and wife, Terrie, of Joshua; daughter Jeanette Roberts and husband, Mike, of Grand Prairie; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Hoyl Alexander Buie of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
