Elvena Berthena Gayler

Funeral for Elvena Berthena Gayler, 100, of Alvord was Aug. 9 at First Baptist Church in Forestburg with the Rev. Bill Kimbley officiating. Burial was at Perryman Cemetery.

Gayler died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in Denton.

Born Jan. 6, 1912, in Forestburg to Elbert N. and Annie B. (Sims) Harrison, she was a homemaker. She married Robert E. Gayler Oct. 16, 1927, in Lawton, Okla. They were married 75 years at his death in 2003.

She was also preceded in death by grandson Mark Lynn Kelton and great-granddaughter Danielle Kelton.

Gayler is survived by son Jerry Wayne Gayler; daughters Bobbie Kelton Johnson and Ann Janette “Anjie” Hatfield, all of Alvord; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
