Funeral for Elizabeth Liz Wingate, 82, of Azle was May 25 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Keeter with Dale Noska and Robert Baker officiating. Burial was at Azleland Cemetery.
Wingate died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Born Oct. 18, 1929, in Bridgeport to Benjamin and Lily (Verisiki) Hoppie, she married Dean Wingate March 8, 1950, in Oklahoma. She worked at Trammel’s Village Restaurant, where she met people and served guests.
Wingate quilted, embroidered, collected dolls and salt and pepper shakers, cooked meals from scratch and played dominoes and other games with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son Melton Wingate; two brothers and three sisters.
Wingate is survived by daughters Gladys Kay Harris and husband, Eldridge, of Fort Worth and Joyce Diane Wilson and husband, Arnold, of Azle; grandchildren Jennifer Luna and husband, Arnulfo, Rusti Wingate and wife, Lindsay, and Jessica Kolar and husband, Jake, and Rowdy Wilson, all of Azle, and Julia Harris and Seth Harris, both of Fort Worth.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren Jordan, Payton, Tristen, Ryder, Boston and Kearsie; sister Inez Baughn of Missouri; and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Rusti Wingate, Jake Kolar, Arnulfo Luna, Brenton Saumty, Rowdy Wilson and Seth Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Wilson and Wesley Wilson.
