Dorothy Marie Hastings
Funeral for Dorothy Marie Hastings, 83, of Chico is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Donald McMaster of New Beginnings Church in Chico officiating. Burial is at Chico Cemetery.
Hastings died Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Chico.
Born Nov. 17, 1928, in Waxahachie to Elijah Burns and Estella Mae Hickey, she married Audrey Harold Hastings Dec. 23, 1945. They owned Hastings Floor and Paint Co. in Hurst from the 1950s to the 1970s. She participated in the school PTA and Lions Club.
After retiring from their business, they moved to the Lake Bridgeport area, where they owned and operated El Chico Lodge Restaurant at Wise County Park. There she was known for her homemade pies. Hastings was a member of the Church of Christ in Chico.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Della Jane Armstrong.
Hastings is survived by sons John Harold Hastings and wife, Lois, and Danny Ray Hastings and wife, Sheila; grandchildren Justin Ray Hastings and wife, Shelly, Alex Heath Hastings and wife, Tammy, Kyle Wayne Hastings and wife, Darla, Sabrina Kathleen Hastings-Rueda and husband, Adrian, and Michael Aaron Hastings; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by siblings Jewell Nitzche of Payson, Ariz., Charles Burns of Rhome, Jean Ellis of Sedona, Ariz., Sarah Wright of Niederwald, Thomas Burns of Chico, Jarvis Admire of Azle and Cathey Aaron of West Virginia.
Pallbearers are Justin Hastings, Alexander Hastings, Kyle Hastings, Michael Hastings, Don Gardner and Adrian Rueda.
