Donald Ray Ashley, 63, of Chico, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in Dallas. A graveside service was held Sept. 11 at Cumby Cemetery at Chico.

Ashley was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Wichita Falls to Melba Lucille (Jones) and Donald Leon Ashley. He was a retired teacher and coach in the Chico school district who received his bachelor’s degree in education from Midwestern University. He spent six years in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kaylean; daughters Ricki Ward and husband, Tony, of Rowlett and Kyla Collis and husband, Chris, of Frisco; mother Melba Ashley of Wichita Falls; brother Gary Ashley of Alameda, Calif.; sister Phyllis Litteken and husband, Frank, of Wichita Falls; and grandchildren Bailey and Jake Ward.

He was preceded in death by his father.
