Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, followed by a graveside service and burial at 2:30 p.m. at Willowpoint Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine.
Chivers was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Willow Point to James Ralph and Ruby Barefield Chivers. He attended Decatur Christian College before starting a 39-year career with T.I./Ratheon as an environmental test lab technician. Billy Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Grapevine Ward.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Joe Chivers, James Stegall, Steven Hendrix, David Blount, Noah Hatfield, Nicholas Hatfield, Steven Ray Jr. and Nicholas Hatfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Myrna Loy Heatherwick Chivers; brother James Robert Chivers; and his stepbrother, Kelly Stegall.
He is survived by his wife, Vanita Jane Chivers; stepmother Jackie June Johnson; stepson David Lee Blount of Grapevine; daughters Dana Lynn Chivers of Carrollton, Melany Jane Hendrix and husband, Steven Ray, of Fort Worth; stepdaughter Brenda Sue Field of Hurst; brothers Tommy Joe Chivers and wife, Lorez, and James Floyd Stegall and wife, Pat; grandchildren Hailey Renee Chivers, Noah Ray Hatfield, Amber Rose Hatfield, Nathaniel Paul Hatfield, Nicholas Ashton Hatfield, Alexis Sue Field, Steven Ray Hendrix Jr., Lucas Ray Hendrix and Daniel Arthur Hendrix.
