Bill Simpson

Funeral for Bill Simpson, 79, of Boyd was Aug. 7 at First Baptist Church in Boyd with the Revs. T.B. Reid and Jimmy Arrington officiating. Burial followed at Boyd Cemetery.

Simpson died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Boyd.

Born March 12, 1933, in Decatur to Charlie and Minnie (Roberts) Simpson, he married Alice Smith May 7, 1954, in Boyd. Simpson retired after 43 years as a scraper operator at Acme Brick. He was a member of the Boyd Volunteer Fire Department, Boyd Assembly of God Church, Hilltop Assembly of God Church and Family Worship Center Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by brothers Harry Lee and Gordan Jack Simpson; and sister Stella Mae Waldrop.

Simpson is survived by his wife of 58 years; daughter Patricia Burdine and husband, David, of Fort Worth; son Jerry Simpson and wife, Jennie, of Grapevine; grandchildren Justin Simpson, Lonnie Hambrick, Jardin Simpson, John Hambrick and Angel Burdine; sister Clayton Simpson of Bridgeport; former son-in-law David Hambrick; and other family members.

Pallbearers were Harold Lisby, Andy Chapman, Edward Goldman, Tommy Smith, Shane Smith, Mike Richardson, Doug Williams and Tim Cameron. Honorary pallbearer is Buddy Hunt.
