Bennie Merle Pannell

Bennie Merle Pannell, 81, a lifelong resident of Decatur, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Decatur.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Epting and Pastors Doug Moreland and Joe Caballero officiating. Burial is at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Chris Burton, Ricky Nobles, Mike Tolle, Donald Wayne Meador, Rusty Aaron and Parker Slate.

Bennie Merle was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Decatur to George Newton and Myrtle Karo (Gordon) Stevens. She married Don Waymon Pannell Feb. 21, 1949, in Wichita Falls. She was a member of the Greenwood Extension Education Club and Greenwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Waymon Pannell of Decatur; daughters Barbara Meador and husband, Donald, Melinda Aaron and husband, Ray, Sam Slate and husband, Steve, all of Decatur, and Vickie Jezek and husband, John, of Aubrey; grandchildren Donald Wayne Meador, Amber Tolle, Randi Anderson, Rusty Aaron, Parker Slate and Raena Slate; great-granddaughters Shaylynn Meador and Natalie Tolle; nieces Deborah Martin and Sherri Welty; and nephew John Brockie.

She was preceded in death by her son, Clinton Pannell.
