Aline ‘Dora’ Manire

Aline “Dora” Manire, 79, a retired hairdresser, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken May and Gerre Joiner officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Dora was born Feb. 19, 1933, to Broe and Della (Claborn) Ray. She was the great-granddaughter of Mose P. and Lavina Ball who came to Wise County in early 1850 and helped settle the northern part of Wise County.

Dora married Leon “Leaky” Manire in 1955, and they were married 22 years until his death Jan. 11, 1977.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Wise County Historical Society, the Decatur Senior Citizens Center, First Baptist Church of Decatur and the Red Hat Group. Dora was a volunteer for Solaris Hospice Healthcare and Decatur Nursing Home.

She was the first woman to serve on a jury in Wise County.

Survivors include her daughter, Fonda O’Connor and husband, Mike, of Weatherford; son Troy Manire of Decatur; loving granddaughter, Danni O’Connor of Weatherford; sister-in-law LaVerna Manire of Weatherford; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
