Town homes provide building boost

NEW CONSTRUCTION - Almost three weeks ago, slabs were being poured in the construction of more town homes at Greathouse Estates in Decatur. Crews have been busy since and framework is now visible.

Plans for five new town homes in Greathouse Estates gave building in Decatur a boost to start the new year.

{{{*}}}Value of the homes was set at $675,740 and made up the bulk of permits issued by the city planning department in January.

The $930,190 total included $88,238 for new commercial projects, the temporary quarters for State National Bank.

Mechanical work added $58,637 in projects, signs $26,190, electrical $21,200, plumbing $17,335 and residential remodel $15,000. Another $27,850 in general permits were issued.

Permits brought in $37,260 income for the city.
