The Decatur Planning and Zoning Commission approved a special use permit for a private club on the courthouse square Tuesday.
The planned use for the building at 109 N. State St. is a Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. The city council will consider the recommendation Monday.
At least three previous SUPs have been issued for private clubs in the downtown district.
New zoning was approved for a longtime business at 411 W. Mill St. Sid Hancock has operated a business since the 1960s, prior to adoption of the city zoning ordinance. It is located in a residential zone, although it backs up to a commercial area.
Hancock plans to lease the building for another business.
A replat was approved for property on the east side of U.S. 81/287 between Main and Walnut streets.
Remodeling and expansion is planned at the convenience store, and it was discovered that the property had not been originally platted as one lot.
