Alvord teachers and employees will get a slight raise for the 2012-13 school year according to a budget reviewed by trustees Thursday afternoon.
The district is looking to give $80,000 worth the raises to employees. Teachers will see a raise of 2 percent. Other personnel and administrators will get increases of at least $400.
The pay increases fit into a proposed budget of $6.285 million that trustees will look to pass at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 after a public hearing.
The budget grew by $38,000 from last year.
The district is proposing to keep the total tax rate at $1.36 with $1.17 for maintenance and operations and 19.4 cents for debt service.
Alvord ISD voters approved the additional 13 cents for maintenance and operations four years ago, allowing the district to exceed the $1.04 cap. On that 13 cents, the district collects an additional $200,000 from the state.
For the 2011-12 budget, trustees approved the transfer of $187,000 out of the district’s fund balance to service debt. The district’s note payment was slightly more than $800,000.
The district has approximately $1.6 million in reserves after the transfer.
