As you mark your calendars for the many activities taking place this spring, I would like to encourage you to make plans to attend the Wise County Health Fair 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Decatur Civic Center. The Health Fair is sponsored by United Way and is promoting a healthier Wise County through community awareness and education.
One of the key features will be the family fun run/walk beginning at 10:30 a.m. This event is free. The first 100 to register will receive a Fun Run T-shirt sponsored by Care Improvement Plus. There are many other free opportunities as well. They include several free health screenings – dental, blood pressure, vision, hearing, blood glucose, and cholesterol. School immunizations will be offered for $14 to $22.
Several popular activities are returning such as the TxDOT/Highway Patrol Roll Cage; Texas Lifestar Helicopter; Fingerprint I.D. Kits; Facepainting and the Better Living for Texans program will exhibit information concerning MyPlate.
Participants will be able to take part in plant pals offered by Wise County 4-H; venomous snake identification and the Carter Blood Care unit returns. The Moncrief Cancer Center mammography mobile unit will provide fully funded mammography screenings. Pre-registration is required by calling (800)-405-7739.
