Music mirrors the world it inhabits. The stalwart tones of a steady marching band evince notions of pride and pomp from the gathering crowds. Notes issue like military orders from the brass instruments propped up by uniformed arms.

Meanwhile, men on horseback clomp behind in steady rhythm. Taking to the streets like once vanquished soldiers finally able to return home.

Our roaming photographer captured this image at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo All Western Parade Saturday. The unusual warm weather, like an invitation from Heaven itself, drew a large crowd to downtown Cowtown.

Timing was everything. At just the right instant, sunlight reflected off the glass windows of a nearby building. The glow illuminated the face of the subject. And the bell of the sousaphone, like the music, like the photographer, reflected the world wrapping around.
