FIRE AT 500 ACRES, 5 HOMES DESTROYED – Wise County Fire Marshal Marc Dodd said that as of Thursday morning the large grass fire near County Road 3547 had burned approximately 500 acres. Dodd said that the fire had consumed 5 houses, an outbuilding, a barn and a tractor. Twelve Wise County fire departments, task forces from Jack, Parker and Tarrant counties and the Texas Forest Service Task Force worked throughout the day and many into the night to try to contain the blaze. He said 50-60 homes in the area from CR 3547 to CR 3540 (also known as Wilson Prairie Road) were evacuated. Residents were able to return home late yesterday evening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
