A head-on collision on Farm Road 730 killed three people early this morning. A southbound silver Ford Mustang collided with a northbound white pickup at approximately 3 a.m. several miles north of Decatur near County Road 2445. It appeared the Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed and crossed into the northbound lane in a no passing zone. The impact left the vehicle wedged and bent beneath the pickup. The three passengers in the car were pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and received helicopter transport to a Fort Worth hospital for critical injuries. The driver of the pickup was transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur for non-life threatening injuries. Traffic was still shut down in both directions two hours after the accident. More information will be posted when it becomes available.
