Six Wise County runners received Texas Girls Coaches Association recognition this past week.
Alvord freshman Lacey Watkins was picked for the Class 2A all-state team after finishing 16th last week at the state cross country meet, running a 12:49 on the 3,200-meter course.
Decatur freshmen Nancy Torres and Nicole Neighbors joined senior Natalie Neighbors on the Class 3A squad. Nicole Neighbors finished 27th in the 3A race, running 12:47. Torres was 30th in 12:48. Natalie Neighbors took 60th in 13:18.
Northwest put two underclassmen – sophomore Kellee McCann and freshman Katherine Chavez – on the 5A team. McCann finished a spot and second ahead of Chavez at state last weekend running 11:46 for 16th.
