Decatur takes second

The Decatur Lady Eagles swim team took second in the 24-team field Saturday at the Irving ISD Winter Invite.

Decatur tallied 244.5 points. Plano West won the meet with 650.5.

Two Lady Eagle relays finished second. The 200 medley team of Audry McCreary, Baley Phariss, Katey Rowden and Haley Dennard swam a 2:05.21.

The quartet of Rowden, Guirnalda Lopez, McCreary and Dennard was second in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.9. The team of Kate Grant, Madison Phariss, Emily Howdeshell and Reagan Ralston took 10th in 2:07.28 in the event.

The Lady Eagles’ 400 freestyle relay of Baley Phariss, Lopez, Ralston and Grant finished fifth in 4:47.02.

Rowden recorded the team’s lone victory the day in the 50 freestyle, swimming 25.64. She was second in the 100 freestyle in 56.89.

Dennard finished third in the 50 freestyle in 26.71. Ralston was 14th in the race in 30.03, and Baley Phariss 28th in 33.48.

McCreary took fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:35.31. She was fifth in the 100 freestyle in 59.86. Dennard finished a spot back of McCreary in 1:00.02, and Madison Phariss 40th in 1:22.91.

Grant swam 2:19.99 to take fifth in the 200 freestyle. Howdeshell finished 13th in 2:38.36, and Lopez 19th in 2:48.95.

Howdeshell was 11th in the 500 freestyle in 7:29.29.

Lopez finished 12th in the 100 backstroke in 1:23.51.

Baley Phariss took 12th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.22 and Ralston 14th in 1:34.26.

The Decatur Eagles finished ninth at the meet with 87 points.

The Eagles quartet of Daniel Smyers, Dosson Lewthwaite, Arin Blaylock and Logan Huff took sixth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.11.

Huff finished fifth in the 50 freestyle in 24.02. Smyers was 10th in 24.83.

Blaylock took seventh in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.87. He was 17th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.97.

Lewthwaite swam 1:08.43 for ninth in the 100 backstroke. He took 10th in the 200 individual medley in 2:37.01.

Smyers took 11th in 100 freestyle in 56.64. Huff finished 17th in 58.94 and Robert Davila 38th in 1:06.89.

Davila was 17th in the 200 freestyle in 2:26.75.
