A Boyd teenager has been indicted for intoxication manslaughter for an accident that killed a 22-year-old Azle man.
Samuel Zamagni, 18, is facing the second degree felony charge for a wreck last Sept. 11 that killed Christopher Logan Norwood, 22. Zamagni was also indicted on a second count of accident involving death for not seeking medical treatment for Norwood, according to the indictment. That charge is a third degree felony.
The accident happened Sept. 11 around 2:30 a.m. on Private Road 4708 near Boyd. Investigators said Zamagni, 18, was driving a pickup when he failed to make a turn, hit a Dumpster and crashed into a tree. Norwood was thrown from the truck, where he had been sitting on the passenger side window sill, according to Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Terri Johnson who pronounced Norwood dead at the scene.
Kathy Davis of Boyd, who heard the accident and was the first on the scene, said Zamagni fled the scene along with two other teenagers. After Davis brought the teens back to the wreck scene and began CPR on Norwood, Zamagni and one of the teenagers fled the scene again and were picked up by authorities.
Zamagni was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance and fleeing the scene of a crime. He posted $120,000 bail Sept. 29 and was released from jail.
Zamagni is also facing a felony charge of evading arrest for a separate incident from June 3 of last year, according to court records.
