9-11 Events

PATRIOT DAY PROGRAM

The Wise County Veterans Group will present a Patriot Day program 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park in Decatur. The program will honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as pay tribute to all first responders, particularly those in Wise County.

Guest speaker is Sheriff David Walker. All mayors and their respective police, fire, EMS and medical personnel have been invited to attend and participate in the Wise County Sheriff’s Posse parade at 11.

NIGHT OF HONOR

Local law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel will be honored with a meal and program 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the First Baptist Church in Decatur. Tables were sold for the event, and about 300 people are expected to attend, said Pastor Ken May

CRY OUT AMERICA

A Cry Out America event will be held 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, on the Square in Decatur. The nation-wide event will feature a worship service and prayers for our county, region, state, country and Israel.
