Rita Dempsey Bishop | 1930-2011

Funeral for Rita Dempsey Bishop, 81, of Denton is 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton with the Rev. Dewey Lang and Harvey Junker officiating. Burial will follow at Sanger Cemetery.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bishop died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, in Denton.

Born Aug. 30, 1930, in Slidell to Jack and Opal (Cearley) Dempsey, she went to Slidell High School and Decatur Baptist College. She married W.O. Bishop May 16, 1949, in Sanger. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Commercial Travelers.

Bishop is survived by her husband; daughter Ellen Long and husband, Calvin, of Ponder; sons Rick Bishop and Chuck Bishop and wife, Susan, all of Sanger; brother Charles Bishop and wife, Shirley, of Denton; sister Joan Mackey and husband, Howard, of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren,

Pallbearers are Chad Bishop, Billy Ray Pryor, Rusty Mackey, J.R. Mackey, Buford Cogdell and Hunter Gay.
