Syler JohnFuneral for John Thomas “Tom” Syler, 77, of Denton was to be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton with Don Browning and Ross Thompson officiating. Burial was to follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.

Syler died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in Denton.

Born Dec. 22, 1933, in the Allison community in Wise County to Jacob T. and Mary Kathrine Ramsey Syler, he married Doris “Dot” Ann Simmonds Feb. 4, 1956, in Bryan. Syler graduated from Decatur High School and Texas A&M University.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a district sales manager with ACME Brick Co. in Denton. Syler was also a member of the Rotary Club and was a deacon at Singing Oaks Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Rhonda Caraway and husband, Billy, of Denton; son Michael Syler and wife, Lisa, of Denton; and grandson Hunter Caraway.
