Breaking news — U.S. 380 expansion project receives more money

The U.S. 380 expansion project received additional funding Wednesday and more money could be on its way.

According to Eva Czerniak, the mother of one of the girls killed in November in a four-vehicle accident on 380, Denton County Precinct 4 Commissioner Andy Eads said Denton County will help ”cover the gap in funds with regional toll revenues.”

Denton County, through the regional transportation council, approved directing $8.5 million in toll revenue funds to the project.

In addition, the regional transportation council of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (COG) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss the allocation of $43 million in Proposition 12 funds toward the project.

“U.S. 380 is a $72 million project,” COG communications coordinator Jahnae Stout said. “All (allocations) combined puts us over the goal line.”

Finally something is being done. It’s a shame that so many families have had to lose love ones to make this happen. Thank you Eva for taking the lead on this matter and pushing our Texas Govt. to finally do something!
