Boyd closes schools at 10 a.m.

Due to a power outage from last night’s storms Boyd school district released all students at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Students who cannot find a ride home will stay at school throughout the day. The buses will run as normal. Teachers will be on hand until 4 p..m. to take care of students who can’t get home. High school principal Shawn Bryans said the day will be an impromptu field day for kids stuck at the schools. “We’ll play bastballl or soccer or play cards,” he said.”We’ll find something fun for them to do.” Since all the food thawed out in the freezer, staff will go to a local store to pick up sandwich fixings for lunch for the students, which will be provided for free. Bryans said they are on Oncor’s list, but due to the widespread power outages it might take a while before they get the power restored.
