Throughout the history and prehistory of humankind, various civilizations and cultures required a rite of passage to enter adulthood. Ours, unabashedly the greatest of all, is no different.

Our roaming photographer captured this image last Friday at Boyd High School’s graduation ceremony.

The seniors completed the staple rite of passage in America today – completion of high school. They celebrated it on a field of glory for Boyd, the gridiron. The place where boys become men, learn teamwork and discipline and hopefully how to control egos.

T.D. Smyers gave the keynote speech.

He represents the even playing field, like the field of spectacle around him, and the public school system that helps mold children into adults.
