Bridled energy

Inside the Frame

Even the staged presents an opportunity for the unexpected.

On a gray misty morning, a ghost white mare bounces through the streets of downtown Fort Worth. Her mane ripples like an intense flame. Silver bridle pieces flash as the horse snorts triumphantly along its procession.

Our roaming photographer captured this iconic image at the Fort Worth Stock Show’s opening day parade Saturday morning.

He looks for something naturally energetic when shooting the mundane. This bouncing mare captured the energy of the parade in an unexpected way. The flowing mane framed the head and completed the photograph.

Even when every step is choreographed, a flash of unbridled exuberance tells the story from outside the script.
