4-Hers attend camps, compete at show

Wise County 4-Hers have been one busy group since the summer started. Youth all across Wise County met for final practices before they competed in College Station at the beginning of June. At the Texas 4-H Roundup, several youth walked the stage as their year of hard work paid off as they placed high in their respective contests.

The following week, Bailey Morris, Kendall Vawter, Christian Cross, Morgan Barnes and Caitlin Pruitt attended Teen Leader Lab in Brownwood to meet 4-Hers across District 3 and to build leadership skills. The District Horse Show concluded and the results are below.

Last week, 18 4-Hers participated at County Camp in Brownwood. Bailey Morris, Fallon Sachse, Lauryn Luttrull, Kaitlyn Lanfear, Reagan Harvey, Michaela Martin, Cassady Craddock, Amanda Peters, Carson Read, Sheridan Shallene, Catherine Young, Barrett Brown, Ray Edwards, London Grundy, Thaine Laaser, Hawkins Nessler, Ty Watson and Travis Young spent the week meeting new people, learning games and leadership activities, dancing and exhibiting their skills in shooting sports.


Several Wise County 4-Hers participated in the District 3 Horse Show June 22-23.

In the Halter class, Jesse Outlaw placed fifth with her Registered Mare 5 and Over, and Monika Qualls placed fourth with her Grade Mare. Olivia Singleton participated in the Western Riding Class. In Western Horsemanship, Monika Qualls placed third. In Western Pleasure, Olivia Singleton placed 10th.

In Hunter Showmanship, Qualls placed sixth, and Singleton followed in eighth. In Hunter Seat Equitation, Qualls placed second and Singleton placed seventh. In the Hunter Under Saddle class, Qualls placed fifth and Singleton placed eighth.

In the Reining class, Shelby Haggart, Singleton participated and Haggart placed fourth. In the Stock Horse Trail class, Haggart and Singleton participated, and Haggart placed sixth.
