4-H plans work day

Join 4-H as we do community service at the Posse Grounds in preparation for the 2011 Wise County Youth Fair.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 4-Hers from all clubs (especially if you are participating in the WCYF) need to help paint at the Posse Grounds. Let us know at the Extension office, (940) 627-3341, if you plan on attending so we can have enough paint brushes for everyone.

The deadline entry for the County Fashion Show is March 11. Contact Tanya Davis or Heather McGilvray at 627-3341 for more information.

Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has came and went! The last bit of results include the junior swine and the steer show.

The exhibitors in the junior market swine show were Lyndi Lutrull, Carson Read and Maley Mader. Lyndi and Carson did a fantastic job in the ring, but the tough competition kept them from placing. Maley did an outstanding job placing reserve champion in the White/Other pure-bred division.

In the steer show, the Wise County 4-Hers had another run of tough luck. The participants included Carson Read, Katie Claborn, Leah Guinn, Chase Blount, Michaela Cross and Blake Arrington. Each exhibitor did an excellent job with their showmanship while at Fort Worth.

San Antonio Livestock Show & Expo

The San Antonio Stock Show was a huge success this year for Aubrey Fortenberry and his 1966 WA-4 FWD Wagner Rice and Cane tractor.

Aubrey won second place in his class and followed up with the reserve champion title in his division. The showmanship award was also given to Aubrey, and was a huge reward for all the time and dedication he put into this project.
