RHOME MAN KILLED – A motorcycle wreck in Denton County on Sunday afternoon killed Clarence Noble, 52, of Rhome. The wreck occurred just west of Sanger on FM 455. The driver failed to negotiate a turn and was thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Susan Edgar, 41, of Fort Worth was not injured. Neither were wearing helmets. The Department of Public Safety is still investigating the wreck.

WRECK KILLS GREENWOOD MAN – A single vehicle wreck killed Bryan Moore, 42, of Greenwood early Saturday morning. Moore was traveling west on FM 1173 near Krum in Denton County when he veered off the roadway and struck an elevated driveway. The impact launched Moore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, from the car. The Department of Public Safety is still investigating the wreck.

18-WHEELERS COLLIDE – Two 18-wheelers were involved in an accident on U.S. 81/287 south of County Road 4421 Monday afternoon. William Morgan of Albuquerque, N.M., was northbound in an 18-wheeler behind another 18-wheeler driven by Sukhwinder Singh, 55, of Fresno, Calif. Singh lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the curve south of 4421. The truck jackknifed and traveled toward the median. Morgan attempted to avoid the truck and also turned toward the median. However, the trucks collided in the median, stopping in the grass. Morgan had minor injuries and was transported to Wise Regional Health System.

BOYD’S SUPER SEARCH – The Boyd School Board agreed to a timeline last night on filling the superintendent position. The board plans to begin interviewing the top five finalists by June 7. The new superintendent should be decided by June 22 and ready to start on July 15. The district is paying an interim superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS – The Decatur School Board last night reviewed the information provided at last week’s community involvement meetings and came up with a list of 10 qualifications for their next superintendent. Those qualifications will be posted by the board’s superintendent search firm, TASB Executive Search Services, and applications will be accepted until May 17. The board is scheduled to begin reviewing applications May 24.

ALVORD ROUND-UP – Alvord Elementary’s pre-kindergarten and kindergarten round-up continues through Friday in the elementary office. Times are 8:30-10:30 a.m. for children 4 years old for pre-k by Sept. 1 and 5 years old by Sept. 1 for kindergarten. Parents need to bring their child’s social security card, an updated shot record, birth certificate and proof of residency in the district. LITTLE RAIN – Yesterday’s rain shower brought only a little rain to Wise County. Rainfall totals include 0.2 of an inch in Slidell, 0.14 in Alvord and 0.13 in Decatur.

FUNERALS – Family visitation for Donald Lenschow, 68, of Boyd is 6-8 tonight at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, Ill., with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

FUNERAL for Bryan Moore, 42, of Greenwood is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Decatur with burial at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.

MASS of Christian burial for Alva Jewell Bordner, 83, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. today at St. Johns Catholic Church in Bridgeport with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Martha Meyers, 83, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Jones Family Funeral Home.

NO SERVICE is planned for Jimmy Weatherly, 75, of Bridgeport. Jones Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
