STICE NAMED SUPER/TIDWELL RESIGNS – Boyd Elementary School principal Barbara Stice was unanimously voted interim superintendent at a special school board meeting last night. Ted West will remain assistant superintendent. The board was also reorganized. By a vote of 4-3, Sheril Rodgers-Tidwell was named the new board president, replacing long time president Linda Ware. Board member Dennis Tidwell immediately resigned following the vote.

GATES REMAIN OPEN – Lake Bridgeport Superintendent Richard Ellis said Monday evening 3,600 cubic feet of water per second was being released by Lake Bridgeport. The plan was to release 4,000 cubic feet of water per second by this morning. As of 6:30 a.m., the lake level was 837.3 feet. Ellis said the goal is to release enough water to keep it at 837.5 feet, no more than one-and-a-half feet over conservation level. The last time it was necessary to release flood waters from Lake Bridgeport was in 2007. Visit www.trwd.com for information on local lake levels.

SPRING TOUR – The Wise County Historical Society spring tour is Thursday. Meet at the Heritage Museum at 9:30 a.m. to pick up a map. The first stop will be the Jerry Askey Farm, where Karen Cross with the U.S. Forest Service will speak. Bring a sack lunch and a drink, and wear walking shoes. The public is welcome.

SOCIETY MEETING – The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society meets at 6:30 tonight at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

BLOOD DRIVE – Boyd High School hosts an American Red Cross blood drive 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The school has taken on the American Red Cross High School Challenge, and seniors and juniors who meet the donor criteria will be donating to help win scholarship money as well as save lives. Contact the school to schedule an appointment.

HEALTH FORUM – The Wise County Health Forum will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Decatur City Hall community room.

MERCHANTS MEETING – The Wise Merchants Association meets at 11:30 a.m. today at Decatur Public Library. Kim Tinkham will present a program on “How To Network.”

SURVIVORS’ DINNER – Wise County Relay for Life survivors’ dinner is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Church of Christ Youth Activity Center. Parking and entrance is on the south side of the building.

MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – The Sgt. Randy White Memorial coed softball tournament is Saturday in Bridgeport. Deadline for sign-ups is tomorrow. Call Misty Schwartz at (940) 389-0207 to sign up or for information.

MEETING – A Bridgeport Project Graduation meeting is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school commons area. All parents with seniors are invited.

FUNERALS – Services are pending for Rodney York, 35, of Decatur and Charlie Maxwell, 75, of Fort Worth at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

MEMORIAL service for Barbara Graham, 75, of Decatur is 2 p.m. Thursday at Father’s House in Decatur. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

GRAVESIDE service for O.L. Davis, 90, of Newark is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dido Cemetery in Fort Worth. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
