LAKE STILL CLOSED – Lake Bridgeport remains closed as the lake level was 1.15 feet above conservation level as of 7 this morning. The lake could open as early as today. The Messenger will post news of the lake opening as soon as it is available. A flood warning remains in effect for the West Fork Trinity River near Boyd as water levels continue to remain about 2 feet above flood stage. There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms today.

BAND BANQUET – Chico High School Band Banquet is 6:30 tonight at the high school. Cost for the catered Mexican food meal is $5 for parents, and children under 9 eat for free.

YOUTH SIGN-UPS – Decatur Youth Football and Cheerleading will have the final sign-up opportunity from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Marketplace in Decatur. For information, call Daren Partridge at (817) 988-7990.

SHELTER PROJECT – SkillsUSA needs donations to purchase asphalt to resurface the Wise Hope Shelter parking area in Bridgeport. Students with the organization and other organizations will work on various projects at the shelter Friday and Saturday. To donate, call Ricky Stutt at (940) 393-5460.

SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT – The Chico Parks Board is having a coed softball tournament Saturday, June 5. It’s double elimination, and cost is $125 per team. Players must be 15 or older. Call Kelly Laney at (940) 389-8286 to sign up.

OPEN HOUSE – Royal Christian Academy in Boyd will have a public open house at 7 tonight. The academy is located in the former Baptist church behind Marketplace.

CHEER – Alvord PeeWee/Midget cheerleading sign-up forms are at the Alvord Elementary School. In person sign-ups are 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and June 5 at Reflections. Deadline is June 10. Uniform fitting is 4:30 p.m. June 12. For information, call Traci McKinney at (940) 393-1319.

MENTAL HEALTH INFORMATION – Behavioral Health Services at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur hosts a celebration for Mental Health Month 4-6 p.m. today in the lobby of the West Campus.

FUNERALS – Graveside service for Elva Monice (Reid) Shockley, 96, of Houston, formerly of Wise County, is 2 p.m. Friday at Aurora Cemetery.

MEMORIAL service for Larry Wayne McCauley, 37, of Graham is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Azle. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.

GRAVESIDE service for Joseph Hosung Chung, 64, of Rhome is 10 a.m. Monday at Alvord Cemetery in Alvord. Family visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Christian-Hawkins.
