CITY RESPONDS TO COMPLAINTS – After hearing complaints Tuesday from residents about the city’s electric utility service, the City of Bridgeport announced a plan Wednesday to address those concerns. According to a news release, the city plans to create an Electric Utility Advisory Committee consisting of local residents, staff and a council representative to provide direction and suggestions to the city council on electric utility issues; send two electric department employees to energy audit training, and then offer free energy audits to Bridgeport customers; direct an engineering firm to conduct a system loss study; project anticipated savings for the city by implementing an electric distribution line extension policy for development to bear some of the costs related to the installation of new electric infrastructure; and implement a meter testing program to intermittently check meters throughout town to ensure meters are reading accurately. The City will also begin a pilot program where, at a utility customer’s request, meter readers will begin writing down the readings and placing the information on door hangers at residents’ homes.

MONEY ON THE WAY – In Tuesday’s meeting, Precinct 2 Commissioner Kevin Burns reported that the county will likely get grant money from the North Central Texas Council of Governments for a new radio system. County Judge Bill McElhaney said it could be in the neighborhood of $400,000.
