RECEPTION – A retirement reception for Rhonda Grundy, a talent search representative for Decatur High School, is at 3:45 p.m. today in the second floor lounge of the high school. Former students and faculty are invited.

HEALTH FORUM – The Wise County Health Forum meets at 9 a.m. today at the Decatur City Hall community room.

PIONEER DAYS – The Rhome Pioneer Days is Friday and  Saturday, with a street dance from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday. Saturday will include a parade at 10 a.m., vendors, entertainment, a beauty pageant and karaoke contest. For information, call Kay Spivey at (817) 696-6742.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – Weatherford College Wise County is hosting a scholarship golf tournament Saturday, May 1, at the Runaway Bay Golf Club. Registration is at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start is at 9. Enter a four-player team at $280 per team or $70 per player. Proceeds benefit a scholarships for Wise County students who choose to attend the local campus.

SWEETWATER CEMETERY – The Sweetwater Cemetery work day and business meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday.

RODEO PINK –  Raffle tickets for a hand-made western quilt are on sale with all proceeds going to Rodeo Pink. All of Rodeo Pink monies stay in Wise County and benefit Mary’s Gift.  The quilt can be seen this week at the Wise County Treasurer’s office and next week at the Edward Jones Investments – Bridgeport office. Tickets can purchased at any of these locations and at iCopy, Decatur and Bridgeport. For more information contact Amber Fogelman at (940) 683-3490.

CANCELED – Slidell ISD has canceled the one act play performance scheduled for tonight due to a conflict with the regional track qualifying meet.

RESCHEDULED – The Pitch, Hit and Run event that was canceled due to rain is being rescheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Kenny Renshaw park in Decatur. The event is free for all boys and girls ages 7-14 (cannot turn 15 before July 17). Bring child’s birth certificate to be eligible for advancement in the competition. FUNERALS – Memorial service for Barbara Ann Graham, 75, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at The Father’s House in Decatur. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Charlie “Tom” Maxwell, 75, of Fort Worth is 10 a.m. Friday at Handley Baptist Church in Fort Worth with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Coker-Hawkins.

FUNERAL for Beth Chancellor, 64, of Alvord is 2 p.m. today at the First Methodist Church in Alvord with burial at Alvord Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Tommy Bennett, 61, of Newark is private. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.
