PLANE CRASH – Two Tarrant County men were injured in a plane crash Sunday morning. Dennis Gartman and Jerry Baker were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth by helicopter after their small plane crashed in a patch of woods near Keeter in South Wise County. Boyd and Newark fire departments and medics responded to the scene off County Road 4790 around 9 a.m. The men remain in intensive care at JPS. The FAA is investigating the crash.

INJURY AT WISE COUNTY PARK – A woman was injured at Wise County Park Saturday afternoon. Medics and firefighters were called to the scene at about 3 p.m. after the woman fell out of the back of a pick-up truck and hit her head. Medics called for helicopter transport. She was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY – The Wise County Veterans Group will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. today at the Wise County Veterans Memorial Park, three blocks north of the courthouse square in Decatur.

MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM – The Wise County Veterans Council will provide a Memorial Day program at 1 p.m. today at the Decatur Civic Center where soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice will be honored. Gold Star Parents will also be honored.

PARK DEDICATION – The Rhome Veterans Park will be dedicated at 2 p.m. today. The park is located at the corner of Second Street and Virginia Lane.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS – All Wise County offices are closed today for the Memorial Day holiday. Wise County Development Services and the Decatur dumpsite is also closed today. All other dumpsites will be closed Wednesday.

FUNERALS – Service is pending for Lucas Mikel, 5 months, of Rhome at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

FUNERAL for Damon Pennington, 82, of Alvord is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Alvord with burial at Union Hill Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins.

FUNERAL for Ramona Miller, 86, of Sunset is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport. Graveside service is 3:30 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday prior to service.

SERVICE is pending for Audrey Faye Matney Olson, 94, of Santa Ana, California, at Hawkins Bridgeport.

MEMORIAL service for former Decatur resident Virginia “Gin” Mooney Henry, 60, of Gainesville who died Friday, will be Monday, May 31 from 5 -7 p.m. at Stanford House, 401 West Garnett St., in Gainesville.
